WE and 'the others'

The presentation had several segments: Exhibition of photographs about the theatre life in Preševo 50 years ago, a performance demonstrating old wedding customs – marriage proposal, a Serbian dance and song and traditional Albanian dishes.

The exhibition contained old photographs from the Preševo amateur theatre in the early post-war years. The interesting thing was that the actors from the photographs, retired a long time ago, came to the exhibition.

The performance "Marriage Proposal" featured the participants from the Camp in Kanjiža, who had thoroughly prepared their roles. The marriage proposal took place in well prepared scenery of an Albanian house, in festive national costumes. After that, a Serbian wedding dance with the song "Our House is Prosperous" was performed by seven girls.

The guests from Bosilegrad (20 students and the Bosilegrad High School Principal) performed a humorous version of the plays of other project participants they could see at the Camp in Kanjiža.

In the school premises, traditional Preševo dishes were served, made by the project participants with the assistance of their parents and some teachers. The project participants from Preševo and Bosilegrada were together all the time and it was obvious that they were delighted with this gathering.

The event took place in the lobby and the big hall of the Cultural Centre, with over 300 high school students in the audience. The presentation was attended by representatives of OSCE and Group 484.
